Birthday Delight: Out Of Darkness...
Lanre's tired eyes scanned the crowded eatery and then at his watch; it was almost 4pm. He huffed impatiently because he had been waiting for over 30 minutes for his food to be brought to the counter.
"Just how long does it take for one to be served around here?" he muttered to himself. He was famished, as he had not had anything to eat all day, and the service was so slow that a snail could have done a better job.
The doors swung open and a girl walked in. For a moment, the hunger pangs disappeared as Lanre beheld the loveliness of the angel before him. She was slim and tall, wearing a tan, sleeveless jumper, with a multicoloured sash around her waist. She had on long braids reaching up to her waist. She wore flat sandals, and a very large handbag hung over one shoulder. Her skin looked smooth and creamy. She looked calm and serious and he wondered what made her so.
She was the loveliest sight he had ever beheld in his life and he couldn't take his eyes off her.
She stopped for a moment and looked around. She looked his way. Their eyes met and he felt something like a ripple all over. Her lips were red. They looked soft. He wanted to touch them. Taste them.
She started walking towards him and he immediately straightened up.
She stopped by the counter and signalled one of the waiters, who nearly stumbled in a bid to get to her. She smiled kindly at him and gave him her order. She continued to smile as he hurried to get her meal.
Then she turned to him and said "Good evening. I'm Temi."
"Oh hi. I'm Lanre" he said quickly, extending his hand for a handshake.
He was so surprised when she drew back, and then shook her head.
He looked at her ,and at his hand and then light dawned on him.
"Oh, Ebola, right?" he asked
"Right!" she nodded sagely.
"Yeah, but I'd really like to shake your hand" he smiled at her.
She looked at him, grinned lopsidedly and then ordered "turn around"
"What?" he was puzzled
"Just turn around" she ordered impatiently and he did. And then he felt something soft against his ass.
And then he realised what she had done. She had given him an ass-shake.
It was too much for him to bear so he threw back his head and let out a rich, deep-throated laugh. And when he turned to face her, the look in her eyes was something he wanted to see everyday for the rest of his life. There was this glint in her eyes that struck him deep in his heart.
"Marry me" he blurted out.
"WHAT?" she was genuinely shocked.
"You heard me clearly and correctly. Marry me" he repeated.
"He's crazy" she whispered, peering at him.
"Well, you need someone as crazy as you in your life" he explained.
"You don't even know me" she laughed nervously.
"True. But i know I'll never be bored" he countered.
"I have a boyfriend" she rolled her index finger in front of his face.
"Really? Cool. So, when's the wedding?" he raised one eyebrow.
"Err, well... em..."
"There you go! Just marry me and you won't regret it. I'm actually doing you a great favour cos you're a nutcase. No one else will ever marry you. I'm your only hope" he said matter-of-factly.
"You ARE crazy" she laughed and he joined her.
And then they looked into each other's eyes and smiled.
"It won't work" she said flatly
"Because?" he asked
"We don't know each other. I don't even know if you've got Ebola" she exclaimed
"Okay. There's a way to remedy this, okay? Let me woo you for 21 days; wait no, one month. Then when you clear me for Ebola, we'll get hitched. How does that sound to you?"
"It sounds crazy. This is really crazy. I am dreaming. Yes, I'm sure of it" she looked really puzzled.
"I could pinch you but you clearly don't want me to touch you so do it yourself. Pinch yourself!" he urged.
"I am so stupid" she shook her head as she pinched herself and then let out a yelp.
"Temi, I like you so much. You're lovely, smart and above all funny. I know i will enjoy being married to you. Please, let me court you."
"Okay then" she agreed.
They ate their food together, in silence. Afterwards, they exchanged numbers.
And then the romance began. They spoke on the phone everyday and saw each other during the weekends. They talked and talked. Day and night. They fell in like. Then in love. They became good friends. He met her family and she met his. Both families got along fabulously.
Twenty one days later, she grabbed him and kissed him. He kissed her back. Ferociously. Then he slowed it down to gentle brushings and nibblings. And then he set her aside and asked hoarsely,
"All clear?"
"Completely!" she smiled sweetly
So he proposed again, and she said "YES!"
The End...
